Beautiful arrangements: Sokoban Revenge

Next I post a small selection of the most beautiful arrangements of "Sokoban Revenge" (1991).

You can download all puzzles here:

Author: Hir
Title: Dual Barricade
Set: Arranged levels by Hir #11
Comment:
based on Sokoban Revenge #26 by Takemi Watanabe: added 2 walls, deleted 1 box and moved 1 box
Date: c. 1998
Difficulty: 6
Best moves/pushes: 136/32

Famous arrangement of Masato Hiramatsu. The original level of Watanabe has the title べるりんノカベ (Berlin Wall).

Author: Yasuhiro Morita + York Shen
Title: Sokoban Revenge #59 a
Comment: added 4 boxes
Date: 1991. Remodel: c. 2003
Difficulty: 7
Best moves/pushes: 771/247

Difficult storage.

Author: Hidemitsu Kobayashi + York Shen + stopheart + Tian Lang
Title: Sokoban Revenge #134 c
Comment:
YS: added 1 box
stopheart: added 1 wall, moved 2 goals
TL: moved 2 goals
Date: 1991. Remodel: c. 2003 (YS), 2012.2.19-20 (stopheart, TL)
URL: bbs.mf8-china.com/viewthread.php?tid=37579&extra=page%3D1&page=69
Difficulty: 7
Best moves/pushes: 943/248

Spectacular level of Kobayashi and difficult arrangement.

Author: Yasuhiro Morita + Marek Letrab
Title: Sokoban Revenge #162 a
Comment: added 2 boxes
Date: 1991. Remodel: July 2003
Difficulty: 6.5
Best moves/pushes: 910/371

Nice storage, with closing from within.

Author: Yasuhiro Morita + York Shen
Title: Sokoban Revenge #180 a
Comment: added 1 box
Date: 1991. Remodel: c. 2003
Difficulty: 6
Best moves/pushes: 803/213

Nice level of Yasuhiro Morita. The goals are the Japanese character 礻("shimesuhen"). The box added by York Shen makes it very difficult to close.

Author: monry + François Marques + GRIGoRusha + York Shen
Title: monry16z++
Comment:
FM: based on monry16, added 6 boxes
GR: added 2 boxes at the ends (version monry16y)
YS: stoned all 8 boxes added
Date: 1992.3.28 (monry). Remodel: 2003.6.22
Difficulty: Hard
Best moves/pushes: 2014/526 (Findus)

monry14 (diamond) and monry16 (elongated hexagon) are extensions of Sokoban Revenge #228. Is not sure whether in the first place François Marques added 6 boxes and then GRIGoRusha another 2 boxes, or vice versa. See also Remodel Club #51 (version monry16y) and #52 (monry16z+7, version by Marek Letrab with 14 stoned boxes more). In GrigrChallenge there are several remodels from monry16, most without solution: see gyjw0806c and following levels. Subsequently, York Shen posted on Yahoo! Sokoban three other remodels (with 2 more boxes).

This one and the next four levels are very hard. For specialists in chessboards within stepped structures.

Author: York Shen + GRIGoRusha
Title: yms12x
Set: Remodel Club #34
Comment: development level yms12, general idea from level monry16
Date: 2003.1.1. Remodel: 2003.2.11
Difficulty: Hard
Best moves/pushes: 1430/562 (Georgi Georgiev)

Is an extension of yms12, inspired in the elongated hexagon from monry16 (which in turn is an extension of Sokoban Revenge #228). See also yms12c (Remodel Club #33)

Author: gyjgw + LZY + York Shen
Title: 火中取栗 j
Comment:
YS (version a): placed the player in the center and the free box at the opposite end to the goal
LZY (versions b, c): added 10 boxes on the vertical and horizontal axes (goals outside the diamond), 1 wall in the center
YS (versions d, e, h, i, j): based on version a, added 11 boxes on the vertical and horizontal axes (goals also on the axes), 1 wall in the center
Date: July 2005. Remodel: c. 2005.7.26
Difficulty: Hard
Best moves/pushes: 7548/1204

Hard diamond with barriers of knots of boxes in both vertical and horizontal axes. The original level of gyjgw 火中取栗 (diamond of odd sides with 169 boxes) could be considered an extension of Sokoban Revenge #228, as well as also the next level of gyjgw 20050806.

This level was posted in the Chinese forum SuperSoko. I have given him the same external look that Sokoban Perfect #215.

Author: gyjgw
Title: 20050806
Date: 2005.8.6
Difficulty: Hard
Best moves/pushes: 1983/474 (Tiaoa)

The free box of the center is enclosed by a wall of boxes. How to get to the center? See also Gyjgw Impossible Challenge #2, probably remodel of GRIGoRusha.

Author: gyjgw + GRIGoRusha
Title: gyijw0908a
Set: Remodel Club #108, Gyjgw Impossible Challenge #12
Comment: added 2 boxes
Date: 2005.9.8. Remodel: 2005.9.10 (according to the XSB file in the GRIGoRusha archive; in Remodel Club gives the date 24.12.2009, which is the date of the XSB file that takes in your website)
Difficulty: Hard
Best moves/pushes: 1458/308 (Sokobano)

Perhaps it could be considered a reworking of the previous puzzle (20050806).

Author: Hidemitsu Kobayashi + monry
Title: リベンジ238面改造 (Revenge 238 remodeling)
Set: monry #33
Comment: added 4 boxes, rearranged some goals in the left side
Date: 1991. Remodel: 1992.6.23
Difficulty: 7
Best moves/pushes: 1651/406

Hard storage on the left side.

Author: Yasuhiro Morita + Hir + Okiyasu
Title: Sokoban Revenge level 254 arranged
Set: Arranged levels by Hir #4
Comment: added 1 box, major changes
Date: 1997.7.21 (create) - 1998.1.15
Difficulty: 6
Best moves/pushes: 1194/293

Really nice and fun to solve.

Author: Hidemitsu Kobayashi + unknown + stopheart
Title: Sukoban Revenge #263
First release: Sokoban 2 (1990, GameBoy) 09-03; then in Sokoban Revenge (1991)
Comment:
unknown: added 4 boxes, major changes in the upper half
stopheart: stoned 2 floors
Date: 1990. Remodel: 2010.12.9 (stopheart)
URL: bbs.mf8-china.com/viewthread.php?tid=37579&extra=page%3D1&page=46
Difficulty: 7
Best moves/pushes: 679/204 (shengli03)

Small level, but difficult arrangement. Who will be the unknown author?

Author: Hidemitsu Kobayashi + unknown + Jordi Domènech
Title: Sokoban Revenge #264 f
Comment:
unknown: added some walls on the left and especially in C5
JD: added 4 boxes, arranged the right side of the map
Date: 1991. Remodel: c. 2006 (unknown), 2017.3.2 (JD)
Difficulty: 6.5
Best moves/pushes: 2018/595

Storage in "S", another classic level of Hidemitsu Kobayashi. In fact, according to Kobayashi, this level is a reworking of Sokoban Perfect #234.

Author: Hidemitsu Kobayashi + stopheart + minglw + York Shen + gyjgw
Title: Sokoban Revenge #266 h
Comment:
stopheart: added 6 boxes, small change at the bottom
gyjgw: added 1 box, a change at the bottom
minglw: added 1 box, changed a box by a wall, moved 3 goals
YS: stoned 5 goals, small change at the bottom
gyjgw: moved 1 goal
Date: 1991. Remodel: 28 October - 2 November 2008
Difficulty: 7
Best moves/pushes: 1813/426

Excellent level of storage by Kobayashi and elaborated arrangement.

Author: Hidemitsu Kobayashi + monry
Title: リベンジ267面改造 (Revenge 267 remodeling)
Set: monry #21
Comment: added 7 boxes
Date: 1992.2.17 (first remodel), 1992.5.10
Difficulty: 7
Best moves/pushes: 3671/1067

Spectacular storage. Before placing any box you must study very well the storage area, if you do not want to repeat the puzzle 10 times.

Author: unknown + Kazuo Fukushima + Hir
Title: Sokoban Revenge level 279 arranged
Set: Arranged levels by Hir #7
First release: Sokoban (1985, Sega) #74; then in Sokoban Perfect (1989) #84. Remodels: Sokoban Perfect #305 (Masaki Ishino) and Sokoban Revenge (1991) #279 (Kazuo Fukushima)
Comment: based on SR-279, added 4 boxes, 2 walls
Date: 1985, 1991. Remodel: 1997.9.24
Difficulty: 7.5
Best moves/pushes: 388/143

The first version of this puzzle was published in Sokoban (1985, Sega) #74 and then in Sokoban Perfect (1989) #84. Inexplicably, this first version is very easy, and perhaps for this reason were made after two remodels: the first, in the same collection Sokoban Perfect #305 (by Masaki Ishino), and then another remodel in Sokoban Revenge #279 (by Kazuo Fukushima). The arrangement of Hir is one of the most beautiful that I know.

Author: Yoshio Sakae + York Shen + gyjgw
Title: Sokoban Revenge #283 ピラミッド・ソーコビアン (Pyramid Sokoban) b
Comment:
YS: added 6 boxes
gyjgw: added 1 box
Date: 1991. Remodel: c. January 2004
Difficulty: 6.5
Best moves/pushes: 366/214

Classic pyramid. Ideal to practice the technique of the "zipper"...

Author: Yasuhiro Morita + York Shen
Title: Sokoban Revenge #292 Keep me panic c (arr.)
Comment: added 3 boxes, stoned 5 floors
Date: 1991. Remodel: c. January 2004
Difficulty: 6.5
Best moves/pushes: 1242/360

Nice puzzle of storage in L and excellent arrangement of York Shen. For aesthetic reasons, I moved 3 goals to leave the L exempt.

Author: Hidemitsu Kobayashi + monry
Title: リベンジ295面改造 (Revenge 295 remodeling)
Set: monry #22
Comment: added 5 boxes
Date: 1991. Remodel: 1992
Difficulty: 7
Best moves/pushes: 3361/963

One of the last storage levels of Kobayashi, and I also think that the more difficult. I prefer this version of monry to the version of Hir, with 9 boxes more.

Sokoban lessons - Seven boxes (with rooms)

As in other Sokoban lessons, in this selection of puzzles of seven boxes (with rooms), I tried to choose levels fun to solve, and that the most of authors will be represented.

An author highlights in a special way: Evgeny Grigoriev (GRIGoRusha). All its levels of seven boxes are excellent, small jewels.

See also "Lines (5-8 boxes)".

With regard to the concept of "room", see the explanation in "Sokoban lessons - Three boxes (with rooms)".

Incredible miniature "six+"! Obviously, the biggest problem is to place the box in D4 - and then build the "six". To do this, you must keep open the puzzle, to be able to turn around. The problem is: where to place the 6 remaining boxes?

Title: Flatland #3

Technically, is not a perfect level, because the only difficulty is to place the first box. It is the same defect that other levels in this excellent collection. However, it is not at all easy.
